Kids are hit with nearly 2,000 advertisements per day and spend an average of 5.3 hours per day watching TV. Childhood obesity continues to be a problem in our community. That’s why partners in Cass, Colfax, Douglas, Sarpy, and Otoe counties are taking 5-4-3-2-1 Go!® to the streets in eastern Nebraska to create awareness of this important message – to eat right and be active in order to be healthy.

Being a strong role model can instill healthy habits in children for a lifetime. Because parents and other care providers have influence over what kids eat and how often they can move around, they can instill healthy habits in their children that can last a lifetime. Encourage your kids to follow this simple countdown every day to live a healthier life.

5-4-3-2-1 Go!® – The Healthy Kids Countdown:

  • 5 servings of fruits and vegetables a day
  • 4 servings of water a day
  • 3 servings of low-fat dairy a day
  • 2 hours or less of screen time a day
  • 1 or more hours of physical activity a day!

Step one of the 5-4-3-2-1 Go!® Countdown is to have one or more hour of physical activity a day. You can fulfill that step while competing for a chance to win prizes for your school or favorite kids’ organization with the Go! Dance Challenge!

Do your kids have what it takes to be a dance champion? Starting February 2 through March 12, submit a video of their best dance moves choreographed to the “Let’s Go” Jingle. It’s easy! Just visit our website, to download the jingle and create the best dance to the music. Videotape the dance and submit the video online at

If the video is eligible, you may be able to win $500 or $1000 for your school or favorite organization that works with kids (like an after-school program, church, library – you choose!). Visit our website, for complete contest rules.

We’ll pick the top finalists from the videos received, and winners will be determined by online votes taken from March 28 – April 17. Winners will be picked from Douglas, Sarpy/Cass, Otoe and Colfax counties in Nebraska.
