Introducing Courtney

January 29th, 2013 by Live Well Omaha Kids

Hi everyone and welcome to the Live Well Omaha Kids blog! I’m excited to be a part of this blog, which I hope will keep you up-to-date on the latest information to keep us on the track to shaping our community into a healthier one. I’ve been part of Live Well Omaha Kids for just over a year and started as their social media expert – managing the Facebook, Twitter and Pinterest accounts. Now, you’ll not only hear from me on those social media sites, but I’ll be writing the occasional blogs over here on the Live Well Omaha Kids website.

Here’s a little more background information about myself – I’m a senior graphic designer and production manager in an advertising agency by day and a mom, wife and small business owner by night. I grew up in rural South Dakota in a family of six and moved to Nebraska to attend college. Since then, I met and married Andy – a firefighter and paramedic – and we have Colin – our very energetic three-year-old son – and Lacey, an eight-year-old Jack Russell/Beagle mix dog. In my “spare time” I enjoy traveling, doing crafty things, shopping and snuggling up to watch a good flick. I’m definitely the “budgeter” of our household, so you can often find me on a Sunday morning drinking my coffee and flipping through the newspaper ads, price matching, clipping coupons and preparing for our weekly trip to the grocery store. I’m on the constant look out for a good deal and a great family-friendly recipe. I’ll admit that I hate grocery shopping and I’m not the best cook in our family – so Andy picks up those tasks more often than I do.

So you’re probably wondering why I’m here, right? Well, I’m here because of my love for connecting with other parents and caregivers that are going through life just like I am — trying to do what’s best for their families. Having struggled with my weight for most of my adult life, I know that life easily gets in the way of making sure that we’re setting a good example for our children by providing them with a healthy lifestyle. Being a working mom has definitely had it’s challenges when it comes to making sure that our family is eating right and getting enough exercise and I’m always trying to better myself. I’m here for encouragement, challenges, tip-sharing… but most importantly, I’m here as a link for YOU to our amazing group of experts that can answer your questions and provide you with the information that you need to tackle your everyday challenges.

Please head over to Facebook and join the conversation. I look forward to getting to know you and helping you on this journey to combating childhood obesity in our community.
