Have You Met Bob?

July 27th, 2016 by Live Well Omaha Kids

Live Well Omaha Kids wants kids and their families to be active together, so we wanted to tell you about a place in Omaha where you hang out, walk, run, and play. Meet “The Bob”:

What is it?
Bob Kerrey Pedestrian Bridge AKA “The Bob”

Where is it located?
Crossing “The Mighty Mo” at 705 Riverfront Dr, Omaha, NE 68102

When did it open?
September 28, 2008

Why is it hot?
The Bob is a 3,000 foot pedestrian bridge across the Missouri River connecting Omaha, Nebraska and Council Bluffs, Iowa. It holds the record as the longest pedestrian bridge to link two states! Not only is the Lewis & Clark National Historic Trail Visitor Center at the base of the bridge, but during the summer months weekly concerts are held nearby. Don’t forget about the awesome splash pad too! We also love The Bob because it helps connect bicyclists and pedestrians to miles of scenic trails. And don’t worry, if you don’t have a bike, Heartland B-cycle can hook you up with one on either side of the bridge – just buy a 24-hour Fun Pass!

Fun Fact
Many area runners use the bridge as an easy mileage tool –– running from either side and back measures just over one mile! Enjoy some time outside with friends, family or even have a walking meeting over The Bob!
